Nishimura Miyeko ("Miye") Ogata

にしむら みえこ (Nishimura Mieko)


Miyeko ("Miye") Ogata Nishimura (1913-2011). Miye was born in Los Angeles, California. During World War II, she was relocated to the the Santa Anita Racetrack Camp. Three months later, she was moved to Camp Amache in Colorado where 8,000 Japanese were interned. Later in life, she pursued her love of painting. Miye was a member of the Puget Sound Sumi Artists and her paintings won many awards in art shows.
