Kyouei Kiln

共栄窯 (Kyōeigama)

Gallery kyouei-gama was constructed by refurbishing an earthenware pipe factory. It had been producing earthenware pipes from Meiji era to Showa era. By 1971, earthenware pipes of varying size had been made every day here. Thankfully touenshiki-kaku-gama(square down-draught kiln) has been preserved and kept in what it was at that time. The energy of the kiln is beyond human ability but we can feel the energy of the kiln when we stand in this place. So we opened 'Kyoueigama Art Plaza' in October 1993 with the purpose of sharing this feeling with many people. We hope people meet each other through Kyoueigama and have ambitions for brand new creations. See "Living With Clay". Gallery Kyouei-Gama. Retrieved 2014-08-25.
